THREE CITIES went into this CvC and ours is the one in the middle. City 680 has finished second in every stage the portal has read — behind 649, ahead of 337 — and second in a field of three is the most uncomfortable place there is. You are not winning, and you are not losing badly enough for anyone to say something has to change.
The week runs from 14 to 20 September, seven stages. Four have been read into the portal so far, and the flags they paid out have not moved once: three a stage to 649, two to us, one to 337. That is 12 flags and a 20% buff for them, 8 flags and 12% for us, 4 flags and 4% for 337 — and the buff is the part that hurts, because it is the gap compounding into the next day rather than a scoreboard you can forget.
Second place in a field of three is the most expensive seat in the war.
Where it was measured, the distance is plain. On Robbery Day we scored 283M against their 320M — close enough to call it a bad morning. The next day, Develop Your Family, they put up 843M and we put up 625M. We went from 88% of their score to 74% of it in twenty-four hours. That is not a bad morning. That is a size difference.
Two stages are still open. The buff we did not win is already in their pocket, and the only stage left that changes the shape of the week is the last one. Nothing about that is settled — but nothing about it is a surprise either, and a war you can read is a war you can argue about with numbers instead of with feelings.
