The Faction Call-Up is the strangest event in this game, because nothing in it is fought. Nobody calls, nobody sends troops, and you do it at whatever hour suits you. What makes it matter is the arithmetic at the end: six days of individual work, added up into one faction number, which decides a prize that everybody collects together.

Six days, every two weeks, on its own schedule
The FCU appears roughly every two weeks and runs six days. It does not wait for a war to end and it does not pause for one to start — it can land in the middle of a GW or a CvC, and when it does, both are happening.
That is the whole reason it catches people out. Nothing announces itself louder than a fight, so the event with no fighting in it is the one that quietly goes unfinished.
What you do alone becomes what the faction is worth
Each member has tasks to complete and a points total to reach. Individual performance is added into faction points, and the faction's total is what keeps us in the higher divisions — where the prizes are better for everyone in the room.
Which produces the uncomfortable part, said plainly: a member who finishes far below the floor does not mainly hurt themselves. They lower the division, and with it everybody else's prize. It is the one event where your effort is most obviously somebody else's reward.
Our floor is 1,400 points, and every task
Fourteen hundred points per member, per FCU — and on top of it all the tasks plus the extra one, which has no partial credit. The number and the price of missing it are in The events you cannot skip, and the fine itself in Fines and penalties.
The floor is the same for everybody, and it was published before anyone was measured against it. That is deliberate: nobody in this faction is judged by a figure they were not shown.
You can see your own count, every day, without asking a person
While an FCU is running, your record carries tasks done, X of Y and your points, refreshed daily and stamped with the day and hour the reading was taken, in UTC. Ask for it with /me, at whatever hour you like.
Read it on day two, not on day six. The whole point of a published count is that there is still time to change it.
If you cannot make it, say so before, not after
Life happens in the middle of a six-day event more often than not. An absence said in advance is a plan the R4s can work around; the same absence discovered in the final count is a hole somebody else already paid for.
That is what /absence is for, and using it is not held against anybody — it is the opposite, it is the thing that lets the count be read honestly.
